Wit & Spark came into being several years ago as a custom bio writing service for artists, executives, and complex hyphenates. Since then, I’ve written over 100 bios for individuals and corporate/non-profit clients, developing a unique and highly collaborative process. I believe the aim of a great bio is to effectively position your past and present to help others envision your future. Instead of functioning as a summary or billboard of accomplishments, it plants seeds for conversations and allows the reader to imagine you doing the work you love.

Currently, I work on bios as components of larger projects. However, I make exceptions for individuals referred by other clients and colleagues. My services are focused on those with established careers pivoting to new chapters. Below are my options for one-on-one bio services:

1. BIO CONSULT

How it works:

• I send you a series of customized prompts to generate material for your bio, from which you create a first draft.

• After you send me your draft, we schedule a 30-45 minute phone call to talk through the bio. While on the phone, I’ll edit your draft and send you the revision.

• You create a second draft and send it to me. Then, I do a final edit and polish. I’ll also send you suggestions for updating your bio and answer any lingering questions you have about publishing your bio or adapting it for different venues.

• This option is a good fit if you have strong writing skills and 3-4 hours of time to dedicate to writing and revising your bio.

• The investment for the Bio Consult is $495 and the process usually takes 1-2 weeks, depending on your participation.

2. MASTER BIO DUO

How it works:

• I study your online presence and send you an intake form regarding your goals and audiences for the bios. After I receive the completed intake, I send a customized questionnaire to learn more about the complexity of your work and your career vision.

• Once I receive the questionnaire, I draft a 200-350 word bio and send it to you (3-4 days after I receive your questionnaire).

• You provide feedback via email, and I create a second draft. At this point, we may also schedule a phone call to talk through the text and brainstorm any additional content.

• I continue to revise until you're happy. Most bios are completed in 2-3 drafts, but I do not cap revisions.

• After we have “locked” your master bio, I created a 100-word version for speaking engagements and publications, which we will also revise until you’re satisfied.

• When I deliver your final bios, I’ll include suggestions on how to update them in the future.

• The investment for the Master Bio Duo is $795. The process usually takes 2-3 weeks, depending on your participation.

3. THOUGHT LEADERSHIP TRIO

How it works:

• This option includes all features of the Master Bio Duo, as well as an additional Master Bio. While many clients want a “one-size-fits-all” bio solution, I find that’s seldom in your best interests, especially in later-career, as it might dilute your achievements.

• For instance, a physician-pivoting-to-writer would benefit from a comprehensive physician bio for board appointments as well as a writer bio for her publications website. A therapist-pivoting-to-consultant would benefit from one bio designed to attract clients to her practice and another that highlights her thought leadership achievements such as speaking engagements, corporate workshops and publications.

• We’ll then discuss the goals of the 100-word bio and I’ll create a draft tailored to the venue of your choice. We’ll then polish all three until you’re satisfied.

• When I deliver your final bios, I’ll include suggestions on how to update them.

• The investment for the Thought Leadership Trio is $1095. The process usually takes 2-3 weeks, depending on your participation.
